As another school year comes to a close, another group of seniours are graduating.  Like every year, this year's seniors have mixed feelings about graduating.

Senior Neil Johnson says, "I'm glad school is over, but I am kind of scared about what I am going to do after high school."

Jodie Songle, 12, adds, "I have mixed feelings about leaving Mounds View, I'm scared of the real world. But I'm excited about college and living away from home and gaining more independence."

Other seniors are just glad to leave. Katie Crane, 12, says, "I am very ready and excited to graduate."

Jeff Kuchar, 12, says, "It's the best feeling to know I am getting out of this place."

There are also seniors who feel sad about leaving. Paul Aplikowski, 12, says, "I'm sad that my childhood is behind me and that I can't say 'I'm just a kid' anymore."

Derrick Metz, 12, says, "I will really miss seeing my friends, the people that I have grown up with every day."

Tammy Strandberg, 12, says although she is glad to graduate, she is "sad because I know I will lose touch with some of my friends."

There are things about Mounds View that seniors will miss. Aplikowski says, "I will miss being able to goof around and not get into trouble."

Senior Tim Jarosak says, "I will miss friends, food fights, and having three phys ed classes a semester."

Although seniors will miss some aspects of high school, there are more aspects that they won't miss.

Whitney Westbrook, 12, says, "I will not miss the rumors. I will not miss the freshmen who are going to be sophomores. I will also not miss the early morning classes and being babysat from 7:40 a.m. to 2:15 p.m."

Songle says, "I will not miss the school's rules. They expect us to act like adults and then treat us like children."

Aplikowski adds, "I won't miss those Keenan essays, math tests and countless research papers."

Next year's seniors also have mixed feelings about the seniors graduating.

One junior says, "They're a really great class and I'm going to miss them. But most of all I am jealous because they get to leave.

Another junior says, "I'm glad they are leaving because now we will get to be the 'big seniors'. I will miss some of my senior friends however."
